HONEST PLAN GUIDANCE
Which plan do you actually need?
The short answer most sites won’t give you: for many creators, the answer starts with licensing, not features. Here’s the one fact that decides the question for most people:
The commercial-use line
Per ElevenLabs’ terms, the free tier is for non-commercial use only. If you monetize your videos — ads, sponsorships, affiliate revenue — you need a paid plan for the audio to be commercially licensed. That’s not our rule; it’s theirs. Free is perfect for experimenting, but the moment the channel earns money, the license question is settled.
TL;DR verdict
Start free. Upgrade to Starter ($6/month) the week your channel earns its first dollar. That’s the commercial license, and it covers a weekly 10-minute video with room for regenerations. Move up only when your credit usage — not your ambition — proves you need it.
Skip every tier above Starter unless you can point to the credit math that requires it — most independent creators will never need Scale or Business.
Bottom line: pricing verified on the official ElevenLabs pricing page, September 21, 2026; the plan logic above doesn’t change either way. Full explainer with the creator math.

| Plan | Price | Credits/mo | Who it’s actually for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10,000 | Experimenting, learning the tool, testing a voice before committing. Not for monetized content (non-commercial license). |
| Starter | $6/mo | 30,000 | Creators starting monetized channels who need the commercial license at the lowest commitment. Good for light narration volumes. |
| Creator | $22/mo ($11 first month) | 121,000 | Regular publishers. This tier has historically unlocked voice cloning — the fix for the revision problem (patch one line instead of re-recording). |
| Pro | $99/mo | 600,000 | High-volume channels, longer videos, or creators running multiple series. Only worth it when your credit usage proves you need it. |
| Scale | $299/mo | 1,800,000 | Teams and production-scale use. Most independent creators will never need this — we won’t recommend it unless the math says otherwise. |
| Business | $990/mo | 6,000,000 | Business teams with compliance and workspace needs. Out of scope for most of our audience. |
Break-even thinking (not break-even promises)
Whether a plan “pays for itself” depends on your publishing cadence, video length, how often you regenerate, and your revenue per video — numbers we can’t know for you. Our upcoming guide walks through the math with worked examples so you can plug in your own numbers. We don’t promise earnings from any plan.
