Why Ear Tested

Opinions are cheap. Audio isn’t.

Most AI-voice content is takes without tapes. We flip it: generate the sample, listen, write down exactly what worked and what failed, then publish.

Test it, then talk about it

When the free tier is enough, we say so. Paid is recommended only when your actual need requires it. Read our testing method.

Real samples, real settings

Every published test carries its model, voice, settings, and date — so you can reproduce it, not just believe it. Browse the test library.

Honest about money

Reader-supported through the ElevenLabs affiliate program — disclosed next to every link, never buried. See honest pricing.

Featured voice test

Test 01: same script, two voices.

The canonical 854-character A/B script — “$1,200”, NASA, FAQ, API, Dr. Alvarez, 2026 — rendered in two voices with identical settings. Listen for the acronyms, the dollar amount, and the pacing.

Brian vs. Sarah, head to head

Both samples generated 2026-09-20 on eleven_multilingual_v2 — stability 0.5, similarity 0.75, style 0.0, speaker boost on. Decide with your own ears; that’s the whole point.

More protocols written — samples publish only after we generate and listen.

Voice A — Brian (Deep, Resonant and Comforting)

Voice B — Sarah (Mature, Reassuring, Confident)

The method

How every test runs

Same protocol, every time — so results compare honestly instead of cherry-picking a winner.

Step 01

Define the problem

The specific creator question being tested — mispronunciations, revision splices, robotic delivery.

Step 02

Lock the conditions

Script, model, voice, and settings written down first, kept comparable across before/after.

Step 03

Generate & listen

Real samples on our own paid account. Nothing publishes until a human ear has heard it.

Step 04

Publish the truth

What worked, what failed, and which plan supports the workflow — prices re-verified live.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is Ear Tested affiliated with ElevenLabs?

We participate in the ElevenLabs Creator Affiliate Program — if you sign up through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We are not sponsored, endorsed, or directed by ElevenLabs, and it never changes our test results.

Are the audio samples real?

Yes. Every published sample is generated on our own paid ElevenLabs account (Starter plan, commercial license since September 2026) with the model, settings, and date documented. Planned tests stay labeled “planned” until the audio exists.

Do I need a paid plan to start?

Usually not. Start free — upgrade to Starter ($6/month) the week your channel earns its first dollar, because the free tier is non-commercial. The Voice Match Quiz does the math for you.

How do I get new tests by email?

Grab the free 21-page guide Use AI Like the Top 1% on the free guide page — you’ll also get one email when each new A/B test lands.

What’s the Starter Pack?

Sign up for ElevenLabs through our link and the Starter Pack is yours free — the narration settings cheat sheet, the AI voice pick checklist, and copy-paste script templates. Claim it on the bonus page.
